artist websiteLunice

Lunice Fermin Pierre II has taken over the asylum because his sound is crazy, his vibe is inconceivable, and his appeal boundless. In a little over a year, Lunice had managed to capture the attention of the world, with an eclectic sound and out-of-the ordinary production capability. Lunice is a natural born entertainer who has the drive, sound, and dexterity to make us move.

He was able to get a firm grip of the electronic beats scene across Canada and the United States with his live mixing of beats, bass, and splintered electronica. While taking cues from Autechre, Bangladesh, Dilla, and the Ed Banger clique, Lunice managed to craft his own recipe which makes dance floors bump and bass bins thump. This 22 year old producer has put out remixes out on prominent labels such as Mad Decent, Sony Music, Warner Music Group, XL Recordings, Young Turks, Big Dada, Top Billin’ and a recent solo EP on the Scottish-Based label LuckyMe. The discography continues to grow by the day.

artist websiteDaedelus

Alfred Darlington isn’t a paint-by-numbers musician. From how he looks (early Victorian Dandyism), to how he makes music, or how he expresses
himself and views the world, his is a very individual ‘bespoke’ outlook.

With a string of releases on Plug Research, Hefty, Tigerbeat 6, Eastern Development, and Alpha Pup, and most recently Ninja Tune, Daedelus has refined a style that has no imitators. Contrasting IDM styled cut-ups with childlike arrangements from the 30s and 40s, he has created a sound that is entirely new. His productions find the hidden common denominator between modern electronics and sampled music from days gone by. Recording out of Santa Monica, Daedelus also incorporates hip-hop into his mix, with guest spots from Busdriver, MF Doom, Absract Rude, Madlib, and more. His live show, which utilizes a sample trigger device called the Monome and a custom-built software package, has amazed audiences across the US, Europe, Australia and Japan and secured his reputation as one of the most exciting producers in electronic music.

Since his last album ‘Love To Make Music To’ for Ninja there has been no let up in Daedelus’ productivity. He has remixed or been remixed by and produced with all of his LA scene peers including Flying Lotus, Nosaj Thing, The Gaslamp Killer, Baths, and countless others from further afield. In addition, singles and EPs under his own name have come out with Brainfeeder, All City, Magical Properties (the Daedelus home-imprint), Alpha Pup, Warp and Stones Throw. And all the while his reputation has grown internationally, his place in the LA scene has also solidified as a musician that many of the hottest names in the city turn to for everything from bass clarinet licks to advice on obscure electronics; all the while with a continuous string of tour dates across North America, Asia, Europe, the UK, and beyond.

2011 starts not only with his new album but the meticulous planning of a huge tour featuring guest vocalists from his ‘Bespoke’ LP and with a spectacular visual show curated in part by Emmanuel Baird (of Manchester’s Warehouse Project and Hoya Hoya nights) which will feature a top secret new invention codenamed ARCHIMEDES, promising to yet again re-invent live electronic performance.

artist websiteB. Bravo

B. Bravo (Adam Mori), a west coast California native, brings his own sound of synthesizer funk to any track he lays hands on, whether in the studio, behind the turntables in the club, or performing his music live on stage. As an original member of the Frite Nite crew based in San Francisco, he is also a driving force in the Modern Funk Movement. Bravo’s live set was unleashed this year to the masses and has received rave reviews from sweat crowds and music connoisseurs alike. Expect to hear his original Future Funk bangers (performed with samplers, synths, keyboards and vocoder) blended with melody-infused dubstep, UK funky and just plan funk, all loaded with full helpings of bass. Bravo’s massive tune ‘Computa Love,’ one of Benji B’s best of 2009 selections for his BBC 1xtra radio show, was picked by Gilles Peterson’s label as the lead track for the ‘Brownswood Electr*c’ 2010 compilation. His latest EP by the same name was released last year on Frite Nite Records.

artist websiteDillon Francis

Almost out of nowhere, Los Angeles’ Dillon Francis has broken from the throng of young electronic music dj/producers. With a stream of world-class remixes and releases, Dillon has caught the attention of some of the top players in club land, including Steve Aoki, Diplo, Will I. Am, Drop The Lime, Sinden, and Tittsworth to name some. In less than a year his blistering productions have been heavily supported by Major Lazer, who opened their show with “Westside!,” a Dutch House-flavored monster that was consistently rinsed by top djs on both sides of the pond, including Sinden and Steve Aoki. The tune is finally seeing a proper release on Diplo’s Mad Decent label, where Dillon will be releasing his “Masta Blasta” EP as well in the near future.. From his first dubstep release on Play Me Records, the heavy “Take Me High” peaked at No. 13 on the Beatport dubstep chart and was played in full by Rusko in every one of his sets for his current OMG tour. In the coming months, Dillon will have releases on Mad Decent, Dim Mak, Top Billin’, as well as Plant Music, where he will be releasing his next club EP. At ease behind the turntables and in the studio, in the electro world and in dubstep, Dillon is what you would call an open-format electronic dj who sees no delineation between making music and playing it. He has gotten huge support from the most important dance music blogs (Dim Mak, Mad Decent, Discobelle, Gotta Dance Dirty) ever since releasing his first bootlegs last year, and 2011 promises to be Dillon’s breakout year.

artist websiteMax Ulis

A DJ going on 13 years, Max Ulis was first inspired by the sounds of house, trip hop, and early drum and bass. With the formation of Vancouver’s Lighta! Sound and the success of New Form’s Dubforms parties headed by Malcolm Levy and Michael Red, Max gained ground as one of North America’s first dubstep DJs. Over the past two years Max has moved away from dubstep, coming full circle with his music to reintroduce elements of his first loves, house and techno.

To quote Resident Advisor’s Andrew Ryce, “Max Ulis’ increasingly diverse output could hardly be described with any one term, but it’s all united by an extremely spare and dry aesthetic. Stripped back, pitch black, and stark, he strikes an enviable balance meshing the dark with the dance floor.”

artist websiteJanover

Janover is recognized as a true innovator. His considerable creative output includes: being a master of the ancient percussion stringed instrument called the hammered dulcimer, inventing and performing on an instrument he calls the “mini-kit” (a miniature amplified drum kit), playing pyrocussion (fire drums) and creating the RealmsMobile (a recumbent tricycle with the mini-kit attached, enabling him to ride and play drums simultaneously). By combining recent innovations in modern technology with the wisdom of ancient instruments, Janover achieves a balance between the electronic and the acoustic to create a unified field: music reflective of the nature of modern times.

artist websiteCohen & The Sea

“Cohen’s music is unmistakably one of a photographer and filmmaker: cinematic and bursting with story. His songs reflect a relationship of light and sound, and above all strive to reflect the beauty around us.” – Michelle www.aurgasm.us
He was handed his first guitar among the mystical Joshua trees at the age of five. Leaving the desert to pursue a BFA in photography, he landed in Boise, Idaho where a trio was formed.
